Your Skiing Stories

I bought my brother and I 2 pairs of Leki Extreme Peter Habeler Ski poles more than 25 years ago, along with the snow shovel attachments. Unfortunately his son lost his on a climbing trip to Alaska and bought an inferior pair to replace them. Ever since then, every time we ski together I hear about how great these poles were and mine are still functioning perfectly. Most recently we did a night ski under the starlight on Cooper Spur on Mt. Hood Oregon. Instead of enjoying the solitude and peacefulness of the clear cold night, I had to hear about how great were the poles and the loss! Fortunately, we have not needed to use the avalanche probe feature except in numerous demonstrations. Is it still possible to find these poles and the shovel attachment anywhere? I believe there was an ice axe head attachment available as well, but I did not think that was safe. If you know where to find a new or used pair of poles or the equivelant, please let me know so I can ski in peace without hearing about these legendary poles.
Thank You, Joel

I have been on Leki slalom poles for this past season and this one and I love the Trigger for its ease of use, convenience, and making it possible to show off to my friends.

Santa came early this year and dropped a box of brand new LEKI products. This is my 6th season with LEKI and I have to say that from one year to the other, I keep getting more and more impressed by the quality of the products.

This year, aside from outstanding quality, LEKI has developed a new Freeride Collection with amazing graphics and new features.

I had the opportunity to ski the Rodeo Vario Speedlock for a month touring and heliskiing everyday at the end of the season in Iceland and Norway and I was really impress by the Speedlock system. This system does not lose tension and the pole stays in position. We have all experienced old locking system with a twist - not reliable. This is not an issue anymore. It is strong and easy to use.

I would also recommend checking out other models such as the Project 19 and Blast for more classical poles but still featuring the Trigger system.

So, open the link below, and have your credit card ready. It is worth every penny!

My name is Anastasia, I am 8 years old and I am graduating into J6 with the Mammoth Mountain Ski Team. I used to ski with my pink Leki Poles that could change sizes, all I wanted for my birthday was a pair of Leki Ski Racing Poles, and that's what my Mama and Papa got me, I was so happy. In my summer ski camp, I was hitting the stubbies and the slalom gates and got a lot of brusies - Mama says that I might get some Leki leg and pole guards for Christmas!

The longest running Telemark ski race in the world hosted by 94 year old Kare Anderson, originally from Oslo, Norway was held at Bromley Mt. in Vermont this February and Leki was well represented! Pictured from right to left are Kare Anderson, Rodney (3rd) Mark Haberle (2nd) and Andrew Minier (1st). This is the 25th year of the event and it represents the Eastern Telemark Championship as the only USTSA recognized east coast Telemark race. The event involves GS style turns combined with a jump and a short skate ski sprint.

This is a note that speaks to the KB race team photo. The racer is Johnny C. and has qualified for the State Team in NY. this season. KB is a small family area near Buffalo NY. and Leki is a big part of the ski racing community here. Good luck Johnny C. !

My name is Adam Gores and I am a FIS racer going into my 3rd year. I have been racing for 10 years now and understand how important a good pole is. Leki has provided just that! With the new trigger system it allows me to feel safe when I fall and have the pole feel like it is part of my body. Ski racing is a fast sport and you need your equipment to react when you do. Thank you Leki for providing such a great product!

Regards Adam Gores

Whistler has been off the hook lately. Snowflake baskets are a must.

My husband has had the same pair of LEKI ski poles for the last 13 years. This last year, one of the adjustable pieces broke. He found another older pair of poles in his parents' garage that had three sections and replaced the broken piece with that section. The thought of giving up his old poles was devastating. They held up this year with the quick fix but it is time to replace them. I can honestly say we won't get anything but LEKI for him ever again. Thanks again for such a great product.

I'm just back from Austria (Warth). Since 10 years we go over there with the same group (25 people). One of the kindest men on earth lost one of his LEKI sticks. It is an black ski stick and it's special because you can put liquid in the sticks.

Forget last minute shopping. This is how I spent my Christmas Eve. Getting the goods in Whistler with my Project 19.

I received my first pair of trekking poles as a participant in Big City Mountaineers Summit for Someone program. Due to rainy weather we ended up hiking 18 miles all the way back to Olympic National Park's Hoh RAIN Forest Visitor Center. I had plenty of time to bond with my LEKI Makalu poles! The LEKI poles REALLY helped me navigate around, and eventually through, the puddles that grew larger and larger as the the day went on and the rain continued to fall.

The Freeride X and other LEKI Alpine adjustable poles are the perfect poles for day touring trips like this one in Kootenay Pass BC. Even when the temperature dropped to -35 C the Freeride X didn't freeze. Thus I could adjust the length for the skin up and still be confident that the pole was beefy enough to stand up to a few impacts on the way back down.

I have a set of the old Leki self arrest grips. I really love them and they have saved me a lot of vertical in the past.

Hello My name is Chelsea, and I am 10 years old. I race for SPAC Racing at Stevens Pass. This picture is from the Club Slolom race in Febuary 2007. I use LEKI slolom and GS poles. I love the Trigger Straps because they make putting on the poles much easier. My Dad says when I start wacking gates, he'll get me Leki shin guards.

Up here at Alta, we had over 700 inches of snow during the 2004-05 season. We were able to ski good snow through the end of July. My season went from the middle of October to the middle of August! Here are some pictures of me testing out my new LEKI poles, the Project 19.
