This week, leading pole manufacturer LEKI will be participating in the No Barriers Summit, a four-day event hosted by No Barriers USA and the National Sports Center for the Disabled in Winter Park, Colorado. A gathering of modern-day pioneers, the Summit is a place where people living with challenges can experience outdoor adventures, innovative assistive technologies, education and hands-on demonstrations, and the arts. LEKI representatives will be on hand conducting Trekking and Nordic Walking clinics for Summit attendees on the Winter Park trails, basing instruction on the individual needs of each person who attends. The company will also be providing poles for a summit climb with No Barriers Chairman and blind adventurer Erik Weihenmayer and Jordan Romero, the youngest person to summit Mt. Everest.

The producers of HOW IT’S MADE, Productions MAJ, Inc. of Quebec, Canada, traveled to LEKI’s manufacturing facility in the Czech Republic to film the segment which will be airing on the Science Channel in the USA on Friday, June 10th at 9:00pm EST, and on the Discovery Channel in Canada on Friday, July 17th at 8:00pm EST.

When Marshall Ulrich ran from San Francisco to New York City in 52.5 days, he was 57 years old and making an attempt to break a world record set by a man half his age.
Completing the mind-bending and body-breaking equivalent of 117 back-to-back marathons, Marshall ran an average of more than 400 miles a week, gained 84,430 feet in elevation, dealt with temps ranging from below freezing to the upper 90s, and crossed 12 states.
