Unbelievable! Dominik Windisch wins Gold

It is the biggest surprise of the World Championships in Östersund: Dominik Windisch (ITA) grabs the gold medal in a crazy mass start race and thus ensures the greatest success in his career. In extremly bad conditions, the 29-year-old from Rasen took advantage of a mistake festival at the last shooting, pulled past the entire competition and sprinted for his first world championship title. While the competitors ran one penaltyround after the other, the South Tyrolean was already alone in the far field. On the last lap, he ran unhindered to his unexpected triumph. Windisch won by more than twenty seconds.

Hildebrandt leads Team Germany to 2nd place

Oberhof is always an exciting place to be, especially due to the weather. Heavy snowfalls covered the landscape into a nice scenery – but then followed by wind and rain made it very difficult conditions for the athletes. Franziska Hildebrandt (GER) remained flawless at the shooting range and also showed her strenght in the track. The 31-year-old put the German team in a good position and celebrated a great 2nd place in the end. The Team from Czech Republic with Lucia Charvatova, Marketa Davidova and Eva Puscarcikova gained a superb 3rd place.

Öberg on podium

The first competition of 2019 kicked off under cloudy skies and very un-Oberhof like fairly calm conditions on the shooting range. Thinking that the tracks get faster, Hanna Öberg (SWE) started with a high number on her bib - differently to the most of the top women. And that paid off. With a clean shooting and a good performance on the track the young Swede managed to claim 3rd place and her second podium of the season.
