Why should you consider poles with a Trigger S grip?
Greater safety, increased comfort and a better power transfer make Trigger S the leading system of the future. All these outstanding qualities rely on a sophisticated technical grip and strap system. Forget the cumbersome disentangling of the strap from your glove. With Trigger S, straps are simply clicked into the grip and clicked out by pressing a button. In addition, the risk of injury posed by "swirling" sticks is significantly reduced because the strap automatically releases upward upon high tension -for example, as you fall. The wide strap around the glove and the direct grip contact provide the perfect power transfer.
Does the Trigger S glove replace the Trigger S strap?
Yes. The Trigger Loop is integrated into the Trigger glove and makes the pole "click-in/click-out" even easier. Glove-integrated straps guarantee optimum power transfer and superior comfort.
Are there poles with smaller grips and straps?
Our offering includes poles fitted with smaller grips and straps for the convenience of those with smaller hands.
Poles with smaller grips can be easily accessed by filtering by "Kids/Junior" or "Ladies" in the Product Overview.
What shaft material is right for me?
For sporty amateur runners favouring aluminium poles, we recommend high-strength shafts. These can be recognised by the HTS marking below the grip. In addition, they offer an extra safety reserve against breakages - e.g., when falling - to beginners.
For ambitious, technology-oriented runners and athletes, we always advise carbon poles. Their swing behaviour and stiffness provide effective propulsion power and fun during sport practice. The higher the carbon content, the more rigid the pole shaft. This is a fairly relevant criterion, especially so for large people.
Can I replace baskets and tips?
No matter the intended use or application, the tool-less, quick and easy replacement of baskets is always a plus. Accordingly, LEKI Alpine poles feature a standardised thread onto which you can also mount a tour basket without much effort. To that end, pull out the basket from the tip by means of a rotational movement.
Attention: Never pull the basket towards your own face or other people. To replace the tips, we recommend seeking the advice of your local sports retailer.
What is the meaning of the words "Stop Max."?
The "Stop max." marking indicates the maximum extent to which you may pull out the lower segments.
My Vario poles spin freely as I try to close them. What can I do?"
No problem, this can happen at times. First, pull out the "spinning" pole segment from the shaft until the SLS clamping sleeve (green or blue plastic sleeve) on the segment top appears. Now, turn the lower pole segment to the left until it stops and then half a turn back. Slide the lower segment back into the shaft and adjust to your desired length by turning it to the right.
How can I stow my Vario poles correctly when damp/wet?
Pull the individual pole sections apart and let them dry.
How do I take care of my gloves?
Proper care can extend the life of your gloves in a significant manner. Before use, we recommend impregnating leather ski gloves for better dirt resistance. Moreover, it is advisable to treat leather parts regularly with commercial leather care. Proper care reduces cracks and abrasion and keeps the leather supple for longer.
Further, we recommend gloves to be properly ventilated, avoid packing them if damp or wet, and regularly wash dirt away with a damp cloth. Additionally, you may apply a gentle hand wash in lukewarm water with a low dose of mild detergent. Please avoid heavy-duty detergent. After washing, the gloves should be lightly wrung out and dried at room temperature. Drying with dryers, in the heater or using a hair-dryer can turn materials -especially leather- stiff and brittle and damage laminations. After drying, we recommend treating textile parts again with commercial waterproofing spray and applying commercial leather fat to leather parts.

What baskets are best suited for winter activities?
In this case, it is particularly dependent on external conditions. Snow conditions and slope inclination are particularly relevant in this respect. Generally speaking, the "deeper" and "looser" the snow, the bigger the basket should be. Furthermore, fixed baskets may cause some out-of-leverage effects in relatively "steep" terrains. This can be easily avoided by mounting Twister Baskets on the usual Flex Tips. These pivoting (45 °) and freely rotatable (360 °) baskets adapt to extreme snow and terrain conditions. Models Cima Carbon and Cima Titanium can also use the Contour Basket.

Why should you consider poles with Trigger Shark grip?
Since proper arm swing is key to cross-country performance, it is paramount to provide optimum power transfer along with a comfortable experience. The quick "click-in/click-out" of the Trigger Loop featured by LEKI´s Trigger Shark System is a very compelling proposition. This small ring-like opening (loop) between the thumb and index finger is practically unnoticeable and provides ideal power transfer with perfect fit.
Does the Trigger Shark glove replace the Trigger Shark strap?
Yes. The Trigger Loop is integrated into the Trigger glove and makes the pole "click-in/click-out" even easier. Glove-integrated straps guarantee optimum power transfer and superior comfort.

Can I do both classic and skating style with one pair of Nordic poles?
Yes. While classical and skating techniques demand different pole lengths, telescopic "Vario" poles offer the perfect alternative to those not willing to acquire, or able to afford two sets of poles. In addition, "Vario" poles can "grow" along with your kids.
Can I customise my cross-country basket to the trail conditions?
Yes. LEKI offers a basket changing system whereby you may adapt the basket size to the trail conditions by means of a provided tool (good also as universal chip for shopping carts).
The yellow basket is permanently attached to the pole. Use the red top piece to extend the basket to S, M, or L size. The black top piece provides some relief for backcountry use.

Can I make my Nordic walking poles quieter?
Yes. If you feel hard metal tips are just too "loud" on paved or well maintained paths, you can always fit your poles with LEKI rubber buffers. The "Silent Spike Pad" is an absolute all-rounder. Thanks to its 6-spike integrated pad, it provides good grip on unpaved trails while remaining "quiet" on paved surfaces.
On the other hand, should you wish to cover longer distances on the road, we recommended the "Rubber Tip Walking" for hobbyists, or the small and light "Power Grip Pad" for ambitious walkers and athletes.
