Unstoppable Fanny Smith

Two more victories for Fanny Smith in Sunny Valley. The Swiss won both races in Russia and could celebrate her 4th and 5th World Cup this season. Just behind her it was the Swede Sandra Naeslund on second place. Marielle Thompson ended up on 4th.

One day later Smith´s teammate Sanna Lüdi made it to the second place and secured the double victory for team Switzerland.

Back-to-back victory for Bastien Midol

Frenchman Bastien Midol managed the best with the track in Sunny Valley and was able to win both races on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday Filip Flisar (SLO) skied to the second place. Alex Fiva (SUI) missed the podium with the 4th place.

On Sunday Alex Fiva did it better and could celebrate the second place, right after Bastien Midol.

Thompson and Place claim golds in Utah 2019 ski cross thriller

Freestyle skiing medal competition at the Utah 2019 FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships opened on Saturday with a truly thrilling ski cross finals, where Canada´s Marielle Thompson claimed gold. World Cup leader Fanny Smith from Switzerland earned sliver. Sanna Lüdi ranked on 4th.

In the men´s big final there were two Canadians, a Frenchman and a Swiss who fought about gold. In the end it was Francois Place who secured gold in front of the two Canadians Brady Leman and Kevin Drury. Alex Fiva ended on 4th.

Fanny Smith again!

Fanny Smith (SUI) took her 17th career World Cup victory and the 4th victory of the season. With a bit of luck she pushed though the semi-finals after a photo finish. In the final she skied the fastest and let the competitors behind her. Marielle Thompson (CAN) made it on 2nd place. Brittany Phelan (CAN) ended up on 4th.

Leman and Midol on Podium

In the men´s competition it was Brady Leman (CAN), who raced to the top in front of the home crowd. On the last flat section of the course Leman was the fastest and passed his competitors. Due to a crash just before the finish line, Bastien Midol (FRA) jumped from 4th to 2nd and celebrated his next podium.

4x LEKI in the finals

At the second of back-to-back competition in Idre Fjall all four finalists were LEKI-ladies. The Swiss Fanny Smith dominated the run and didn´t let her three competitors from Canada a chance. Brittany Phelan, Kelsey Serwa and Marielle Thompson had to be happy with 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.

Detraz on Podium

On second day of competitions in Idre Fjall Romain Detraz from Switzerland rounded out the men´s podium in 3rd, for his first podium spot in more than two years. Also Victor Öhling Norberg (NOR) made it to the final heat but had to settle for a spot just outside the podium.

Marielle Thompson gets 2nd

Among perfect weather conditions next stop for the Ski Cross World Cup tour took place at Sweden´s Idre Fjall. At the first of two back-to-back competitions two LEKI Ladies made it on the podium. In 2nd place it was Marielle Thompson (CAN) just before Fanny Smith (SUI) in 3rd. In front of her home crowd, Lisa Andersson (SWE) made it to the final run and earned her career´s best result with the fourth place.

Alex Fiva comes first

Once again it was Alex Fiva (SUI) who coped best with the challenging track in Idre Fjall. He went for his career´s third victorty on the Swedish track. With a great finish he passed the Frenchman Bastien Midol right before the finish line and saved his 12th victory of his career.

First Ski Cross Worldcup of the season 2018/19 in Arosa

The first Ski Cross Worldcup of the season 2018/19 has taken place in Arose (SUI). Due to a lack of snow the first two stops for the ski crosser in Val Thornes and Montafon had to be cancelled.

In a spectacular night race it was the Swiss star Fanny Smith who claimed the season first victory in front of her home crowd. With the best time in the qualification run she also won her 14 World Cup victory in a thrilling final. In an incredible photo finish Sandra Näslund (SWE) had to be content with the 2nd place. Marielle Thompson from Canada rounded up the podium and secured the first LEKI triple.

Fiva and Norberg on the Podium

The Swede Victor Oehling Norberg also had a great start in the season and ended up in 2nd position. Alex Fiva from Switzerland won the run of the last sixteen and also the quarterfinal. In the final he managed to secure the first podium of the season in 3rd.
