IN-HOUSE PRODUCTION IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
Since 2000, LEKI has been manufacturing at its own production facility in Tachov, the Czech Republic, which is home to one of the world’s largest stock production facilities. The majority of products are manufactured here using state-of-the-art processes. Energy efficiency and the conservation of resources are key priorities: process heat from production facilities is used for heating, filter systems recover heat, and solvents are collected, purified and reused. This enables consumption to be significantly reduced.
SHORT SUPPLY CHAINS – QUALITY FROM EUROPE
The products are developed in Kirchheim unter Teck and manufactured in Tachov. This shortens supply chains and ensures transparency throughout all stages of production. Every product undergoes rigorous testing to ensure the highest quality in the long term.
TECHNOLOGIES AND MATERIALS
Our fully electric injection moulding machines are energy-efficient, combine production steps and utilise free-cooling systems. Aluminium alloys consist of over 36–40 per cent recycled material, which in turn is fully recyclable. Mechanical grinding has replaced chemical cleaning agents since the 1990s. Surfaces are given a durable finish, and low-emission powder coatings and water-based paints are used with virtually no waste.
USING ENERGY WISELY
The waste heat generated by our compressed air systems is specifically recovered and used to support the heating systems in production. In this way, we make efficient use of existing energy rather than allowing it to escape unused. At the same time, we rely on closed-loop processes in which materials and resources remain in circulation for as long as possible. Production waste is systematically reduced, recycled or returned to the process, with the aim of minimising resource consumption and maximising the value added per unit of material used.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
To measure its environmental and social performance, LEKI in Tachov uses assessment tools such as the Higg FEM and FSLM/SLCP to systematically implement improvements. Production at the Tachov site demonstrates that sustainability and efficiency go hand in hand at LEKI – from development through to manufacturing and the finished product.
